Sosban Fach (Welsh for “Little Saucepan”) is a traditional Welsh folk song. It is one of the best-known and most often sung songs in the Welsh language.

For those who have yet to sniff this out, Sosban Fach is Calcifer’s saucepan tune which he uses to bewitch Sophie in Diana Wynne Jones’ Howl’s Moving Castle. It’s a fine song and often sung by a few high-spirited rugby clubs. This version by Cerys Matthews has its own magic. Certainly beguiling.
